Bye 2011, Hello 2012

Ohhh yes! Another one reminiscing about the highlights. Well, dear twothousandeleven, it has been pains and also a pleasure having you! This year has been a big challenge for me. Starting off with focusing on school, trying to maintain relationships and friendships and of course trying not to give up in every hardship. This year has indeed passed really quickly but I am glad, that another year is about to start. New challenges, new surprises and of course more blessings.
Here are a few highlights of 2011:

I can't wait for 2012 to finally start. I know this upcoming year will be great.
I wish you all a HAPPY HAPPY NEW YEAR and MAY GOD BLESS US!!!

YFL&SFL Christmas Party 26.12.11

After celebrating with the fambam on the 24, there just had to be another celebration with my second beloved fambam. It was a great party and we had great bonding time, especially during the dance offs to 'Just Dance 3'. It was great that a lot of people showed up - old and new faces. I am glad to be part of this whole community and I can't wait what God has in store for us. Big ups to my very talented #brothafromanothamotha Randy Lu for taking pictures during the party.

FAVOURITE PERSON(s) OF THE YEAR 2011

This year is slowly coming to an end and just thinking about the whole year I figured there were certain people (not in my private life tho) who I just couldn't get enough of. You probably know these two and probably noticed that I was really fond of them. Typically British, waaayy cute and really funny: SOPHIA GRACE BROWNLEE AND ROSIE MCLELAN!

Who was your favourite person this year?

MUSIC: Rolling in the Deep - Carrie Fletcher

You may know her as McFly's Tom Fletcher's little sister, but wait and see that she's more than that. She has an unbelievable voice and I've been listening to her all day. Very, very talented girl. Big ups :) If you want to see more of her, then visit her Youtube-Channel.

Thoughts Challenged#1: If you had a friend who spoke to you in the same way that you sometimes speak to yourself, how long would you allow that person to be your friend?

So recently, don't ask me how, I have bumped into this great blogsite. It's mostly about life and everything around it and most of the posts are pretty inspirational and motivating.
Hence, I sort of decided to answer a few questions and sort of just write my opinion on stuff. So, yes, this will be a new regular thing that I will hopefully pull through. And to let you know, those aren't just any random questions. I have based my questions on this blog and I hope you can get some thinking done as well. So, the challenge is set for 10 questions, starting from today. Enjoy :)

Picture: http://weheartit.com/entry/19525663

Alright, it kind of took me some time to find out how I talk to myself. Everyone speaks to him/herself sometimes, the elderly people do it more often than the younger people but still - you sometimes speak to yourself. Nevertheless, I pretty much talk a lot to myself in my head and imagining my mind being a friend of mine... wow! I don't think that friendship would last long. And yes, that is a clever question to answer right there. Anyways, I will conclude later. First off the reason.

The friendship would probably start off pretty well since we share the same views and opinions. However, as soon as the friendship goes more into the deep emotional level where serious talks start to begin, I wouldn't know how I could cope with that friends' compelxity, confusion and complication.
That friend would just constantly overanalyse things and would throw reproaches against her/himself and I wouldn't know if I could handle all the negativity since it would mark off on myself as well. Truth is, I don't like to be around negative people. I used to be around several negative people in my life and I have shut them out but they left a mark on me. Their attitude left a mark on me and I still find it hard to overcome that way of thinking. However, I am glad that the people who I let in are pretty optimistic and great people who have their goals and most importantly, believe in themselves.

So yeah, now the conclusion and the reason why I think this question is pretty sneaky:
It makes you think about the thoughts you have in your head. Now thinking about what I am mostly thinking about isn't something that should be continued. If you ask yourself and analyse the things your mind thinks, good for you if they are good and great, but if they are like mine, overcritical and insecure, then of course changes have to be made.
This leads and reminds me of the Proverbs 4:23 "Be careful what you think because your thoughts run your life."

It's been a long time - 300th post

Whaddup people?! Yes, it has been a long time indeed and I know and I admit that I suck at updating my blog. A lot has been going on lately and I can also say that I've been quite lazy as well but I really do apologise. It's Christmas soon but like all a lot of people, I don't quite feel the Christmas spirit yet. I hope it's gonna snow soon though. I've had a great past week and I really feel blessed. Lots of great surprises and lots of great hangout sessions with great people. I look forward to more quality time with my loved ones.
Here's to recap the past week in pictures.

The last month of the year

Picture/Edit: me via instagram
I am very excited about the fact that it's December already. It usually means that it's Christmas really soon. I haven't updated all that much in the last couple of weeks due to university stress/work. Going to uni and having around eight lectures a week is not always very chilled, to tell you that! I am still trying my best to reflect on the year during the advent season. Haven't actually done that before because school used to be real stressful during this month but now that uni does give me a bit of time on reflection, I might as well take advantage of that. I hope you guys had a nice 1 December! Countdown is ooooonn! Tee minus 23, y'all!

DIMANCHE D'EXPRESSION

As for me, reality always has a way of knocking hard on my door. You are intoxicated by the happiness you feel at the moment but at the same time wait for something that kills the moment because it just seems too good to be true. How right that is because life can't always be happy-go-lucky. Bless the people who do have a happy-go-lucky life though. At the moment, I feel as if I'm put on a trust test. On one hand trusting people who are close to my heart and on the other hand trusting the one and only up there. I have always had to learn things the hard way and I used to accept that aspect in my life but nowadays I find it harder than I used to. That is where the trust plays a role because if I have enough trust in His plan then I wouldn't have to hold a grudge against everyone that try to interfere in my plans and I'm in no position to make selfish decisions or be selfish at all. What ever happens lies in His hands and that's that.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your own insight. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:56

Fluorescent Adolescent

This post is for my fellow mates who are having a difficult time at the moment. Who would have thought that you still haven't got your life all figured out as expected? For my part, I never thought that after graduation life would get harder. I though life would be a tad bit more exciting with no worries and such. How naive I have been! I learned though and I am still learning. I am glad, that I've bumped into this article because it does make you realise that the phase you are in is a natural way of life. In each and every paragraph I kinda nodded my head and related to it. It's a great article and I bet you can relate to it as well!

“The Quarter-Life Crisis”
Author Unknown

It is when you stop going along with the crowd and start realizing that there are a lot of things about yourself that you didn’t know and may or may not like. You start feeling insecure and wonder where you will be in a year or two, but then get scared because you barely know where you are now.
You start realizing that people are selfish and that, maybe, those friends that you thought you were so close to aren’t exactly the greatest people you have ever met and the people you have lost touch with are some of the most important ones. What you do not realize is that they are realizing that too and are not really cold or catty or mean or insincere, but that they are as confused as you.
You look at your job. It is not even close to what you thought you would be doing or maybe you are looking for one and realizing that you are going to have to start at the bottom and are scared.
You miss the comforts of college, of groups, of socializing with the same people on a constant basis. But then you realize that maybe they weren’t so great after all.
You are beginning to understand yourself and what you want and do not want. Your opinions have gotten stronger. You see what others are doing and find yourself judging a bit more than usual because suddenly you realize that you have certain boundaries in your life and add things to your list of what is acceptable and what is not. You are insecure and then secure. You laugh and cry with the greatest force of your life. You feel alone and scared and confused. Suddenly change is the enemy and you try and cling on to the past with dear life but soon realize that the past is drifting further and further away and there is nothing to do but stay where you are or move forward.
You get your heart broken and wonder how someone you loved could do such damage to you or you lay in bed and wonder why you can’t meet anyone decent enough to get to know better. You love someone but maybe love someone else too and cannot figure out why you are doing this because you are not a bad person.
One night stands and random hook ups start to look cheap and getting wasted and acting like an idiot starts to look pathetic. You go through the same emotions and questions over and over and talk with your friends about the same topics because you cannot seem to make a decision.
You worry about loans and money and the future and making a life for yourself and while wining the race would be great, right now you’d just like to be a contender!
What you may not realize is that everyone reading this relates to it. We are in our best of times and our worst of times, trying as hard as we can to figure this whole thing out.

After an inspiring and fun weekend, YFL can welcome 13 new babies! Their backgrounds and reasons to join the community were very inspirational. I am proud of each and everyone of them. The camp was great but with great things challenges also come up and we were successful in getting over them.

busy busy november should bring december faster

Picture: via Facebook © kreitner & partner

November is pretty much a busy month for me hence the delayed blogging. Now that I have been through the first exam in Uni I still have lots to prepare for the upcoming YFL-Camp, which I am quite excited for. It's going to be a new or a renewed experience for everyone and I just can't wait to grow in His love even more. I have been browsing through a couple of blogs over the past months and they just seem to have a certain USP to them. So therefore, I am in search for my own USP and I guess it's nothing that comes easy or even fast. I just told myself to keep this blog going and maybe sooner or later it will develop in something on its own. The Christmas market officially opened last Saturday and I'm looking forward to pay it a visit with my faves. There are a few highlights in November but I guess December will be even more eventful with Christmas, New Years and other things ;)

Just a random update for you guys!

DIMANCHE D'EXPRESSION

I'm starting to make this delay of weekly posts turn into a habit, which of course is not really the best thing to do. However, yesterday I was just really really tired and by that I mean that my mind started to think for itself which was not very pleasant. ANYWAYS, I can't wait for next weekend, to be with the youths, to teach them things that might be a big part of their lives and just to be helpful to others.
